The Sindh Government announced transitioning all central public offices and hospitals to solar energy.
Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh, Provincial Minister of Sindh for Energy, recently inaugurated the project Solar Power Park at Karachi Press Club, having a 60KV capacity. According to sources, the project will cover 90% of the power requirements of the Karachi Press Club.
Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh stated that all government buildings, hospitals, and prisons would soon be solarized to overcome load shedding in Sindh.
Pakistan is making efforts to limit the use of fossil fuels for energy production. Although Pakistan’s share of GHG emissions is not that high, the country still needs to convert to green energy for two main reasons; the fossil fuel expense and the energy crisis.

Shifting to solar energy would reduce the government's expenditure on fossil fuel purchases. In the meantime, enough energy will be produced to cover the electricity requirements.
Recently, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Shehbaz Sharif, directed to transform all the buildings under the Federal Government to solar energy within seven weeks. The PM also emphasized the importance of the project and its completion within the given time period.
The current economic situation of Pakistan is unstable. However, conversion to solar energy would save Pakistan enough money to overcome electricity shortage and stabilize the economy at the same time.
