LAHORE: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan and Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi held a detailed meeting at the Chief Minister's Office on Monday to discuss the current political situation, development schemes, and solutions to people's problems.
Imran Khan praised the Punjab government's efforts to rehabilitate flood-affected residents and save educational institutions from drug addiction. He stated that the Punjab government's aid package would ensure the early rehabilitation of affected families.
He regretted that the previous government had turned against the people by discontinuing welfare-oriented programs. He emphasized that welfare schemes should be accelerated in order to provide people with the necessary relief.
The CM informed Imran Khan that the province's hospitals would be converted to solar energy in stages. The Punjab Control of Narcotics Substance Act, 2022. was briefed on by the CM, who stated that strict legislation was being enacted to make educational institutions drug-free. He added that strict punishment would be proposed for selling drugs in higher education institutions.
The government was legislating to keep the minimum punishment at two years and the maximum at life imprisonment, while owners and employees would be held accountable for drug sales and use in educational institutions, he said.
The CM stated that heirs of those who died as a result of the rains and floods have been given one million rupees each. The amount of aid has been increased to compensate for damages to houses, crops, and livestock, he said, adding that new development schemes are also being launched in accordance with Imran Khan's vision, as the welfare of the common man is a priority for the Punjab government.
