UAE’s high-level delegation recently visited Pakistan. The delegation members included Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, President-designate of COP-28 and UAE’s Special Envoy for Climate Change, Minister for Industries and Technologies, Chairman Masdar, and other personnel.
Sharif al Olama, UAE’s Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy & Infrastructure and Rashid Mahmood Langrial, Secretary Power Division, signed the MoU.
The team met with Former Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday in Islamabad. The Special Envoy of the UAE for Climate Change underscored the UAE's desire to strengthen cooperation with Pakistan in the field of renewable energy, which will contribute to Pakistan's increased energy security.
Former Prime Minister Sharif offered the UAE the full support of Pakistan for COP28 in recognition of the UAE's efforts to tackle climate change and build renewable energy projects. He expressed gratitude to the UAE for helping Pakistan through the disastrous floods of the previous year. Shehbaz Sharif also acknowledged the UAE's essential assistance to Pakistan in achieving a staff-level deal with the IMF. The Special Investment Facilitation Council, which aims to assist foreign investors in various sectors, was also discussed by the former prime minister with the delegation. The 10,000 MW solar energy projects, for which a road show had already been held in Dubai, were also discussed.
The Pakistan-UAE business deal will open doors to the country's overall development, helping it combat the financial and energy crises.
