Pakistan Has the Capacity to Produce 30,000 MW of Renewable Energy

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 1, Musadik Malik, Minister of State Petroleum Pakistan, said in the Baku Energy Week that Pakistan could generate 30,000 MW of renewable energy.

Baku Energy Week took place from 31st May to 3rd June 2023 in the capital of Azerbaijan under the support of the Ministry of Energy and the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR). 

Around 35 countries were represented in the event with a common goal to promote and drive progress toward green energy production. 

Along with Baku Energy Week, The 28th International Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition (Caspian Oil & Gas) and the 11th Caspian International Power and Green Energy Exhibition (Caspian Power) were held together.

Musadik Malik, Minister of State Petroleum Pakistan, said in the Baku Energy Week that Pakistan could generate 30,000 MW of renewable energy. 

He stated in the event that around 10,000 MW accounts for solar energy and the rest for other renewable resources.

He added, "In the coming five-seven years, Pakistan aims to reduce carbon emissions, and in this area, it's very important to establish synergy with other countries. We, as partners, need to unite for the implementation of green projects." 

Besides Azerbaijan, the US, Germany, Austria, Belarus, UAE, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Vietnam, China, Algeria, Philippines, Finland, France, Georgia, Spain, Israel, Sweden, Switzerland, Italy, Canada, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Hungary, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway, Uzbekistan, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Thailand, Türkiye and Japan participated in the event.

It had been a great opportunity for Pakistan to participate in an international energy expo representing the country’s true potential for generating renewable energy. This will attract foreign investors in Pakistan and accelerate the country’s green energy production.
