Solar PV Project of 600 MW Re-Tendered in Pakistan

Pakistani authorities renewed the tender to develop a 600 MW solar project in Punjab. The government directed the potential solar developers to submit their proposals until October 31, 2023.
Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB) Pakistan extended the 600 MW solar energy project deadline till October 31, 2023. The project has been re-tendered recently. The deadline already changed twice to April 17 and May 8.
As per officials, the solar installment site will be Kot Addu and Muzaffargarh, Punjab. PPIB said the project will be developed on a BOOT (build, own, operate and transfer) basis for a concession term of 25 years.
The selected private sector developers and entrepreneurs will be given the project of installing solar panels at the assigned sites in Punjab.
Alternative Energy Development Board, in June 2023, made a merger contract with the Private Power and Infrastructure Board to develop future solar projects in the country.
Recently, NEPRA granted 12 power generation licenses having a total capacity of 211.42 MW. Nine approvals were granted from these twelve sanctioned licenses for solar projects with a total capacity of 44.74 MW.
The installation site of the 600 MW solar power project was selected due to its existing grid infrastructure and water availability. According to AEDB resource assessment, logistics and geotechnical studies have already been carried out.
